December 2007

Red asked me to post this for your consideration. BB

Hello from your TG,

The following items are the "unofficial "results of the TG conference. When they are released "officially" I will make amendments as necessary.

1. Change classic cowboy to require chaps and spurs at all times and drop the other clothing requirements to three items: FAILED.

2. As of now you can get as many minor safety violations as you incur. Change to limit the minor safeties to one per firearm per stage: FAILED.

3. As of now you are not committed to the stage until the first round goes downrange. Change to read, a shooter, if properly started, is committed to the stage once the timer sounds: FAILED.

4. The largest maximum shot size allowed is #4. Change the maximum shot size to #7 ½: FAILED.

5. Proposed long range optical category: PASSED.

The following are the items that were discussed, with a straw poll taken, but were non-binding.

1. Proposed frontier cartridge gunfighter: SPLIT As a note it was decided that clubs could add this category if they so desire.

2. Boots: Most felt that there was no problem at this time.

3. Should we allow .22 caliber pocket pistols: Most felt that we should not add .22 pocket pistols.

4. Should the Baretta Laramie be allowed to be shot in the traditional category: the vote was about 50/50 and it was further agreed that it would not be further pursued any further.

Now for the biggies.

1. A power factor was instituted by the Wild Bunch( the TG’s did not vote on this issue). The power factor has been set at 60 with a minimum velocity set at 400 fps. To determine the power factor multiply the bullet weight by the velocity and divide by 1000. For example a 77 grain bullet that is travelling at 800 fps (77x800)/ 1000 = 61.6

This is to be used at all state and above matches. This is for rifles as well as pistols.

2. There has been a practice of taking 12 ga shotgun shells and necking them down to a smaller gauge. The Wild Bunch has declared that this practice is NOT permitted from this day forward. It has been deemed that this is illegal ammunition and will result in a match disqualification.

3. If a gun is defective and goes to the unloading table with live rounds in it, it cannot leave the unloading area until all rounds have been removed. Do not take guns with live ammo in them away from the safety of the loading or unloading area.

As I get the official results I will post them.

Thank you.

Your humble servant,

Turkey Creek Red
