Tales, Anecdotes and Tales Ghost Writers of the Purple Sage Press Of the Indian River Regulators April 2002 *************************************************************************************************************** APRIL
FOOLS!!
There
sure is a lot going on in the cowboy world!
As many of you know, Mule Camp, the Great Southeast Regional, is just
around the corner. For those of you
making the trek to Georgia, good luck at the match, and happy trails on the
road. Night Train Kate and Turkey
Creek Red expect to see Florida well represented, and look forward to seeing a
bunch of old friends-and making some new ones!
The
Florida Sunshine State Games Cowboy Shooting event will be the second Sunday in
May (yes, that’s Mothers Day) in Orlando.
This is a PRE REGISTERED EVENT, and will take the place of the regular
monthly May Orlando match. Kate
will have registration forms at her desk. There
is still time to get in on a really fun match.
Orlando
Western Three Gun will be having their second annual match June 16th
and 17th. Don’t be
fooled – anyone can shoot this match. For
those of you unfamiliar with Western Three Gun, it’s based on cowboy action
shooting as we know it, just with a little more action thrown in. You
do not have to be a Western Three Gun member unless you wish to shoot
professional class. The Jailer and his band of merry cowboys have worked hard to
put on another spectacular event. There
will be some fast shooting and amazing prizes.
Come out and support our sister sport.
See Kate for registration forms. ALLIGATOR CAMP,
MAY 2007 For those of you not
attending Mule Camp this year, the Indian River Regulators will still be hosting
their monthly match. This year, the
match will be designed and hosted by the other members of the IRR Cowboy
Council. We know everyone will
pitch in and keep things running smoothly.
It’s gonna be a great match! COWBOY CLASS &
R/O CLASS
We
will be offering a Level I R/O class the Sunday after our regular monthly match
in June. If you are interested in
attending the class, please call Turkey Creek Red so we can have appropriate
teaching materials ready. The class
will begin at 9:00 am in the action area at Port Malabar.
You will need to pack a lunch. The
cost is $10. The
introductory cowboy class, usually scheduled for the first Saturday of the
month, will be suspended for May. Turkey
Creek Red will be away, but the class will resume in June.
Remember: this is a great opportunity to introduce someone to the sport,
or to get a “refresher”. If you
are interested, or know someone who would like to try out cowboy action
shooting, please call Turkey Creek Red at (321)728-7928. Utah
is offering an intermediate to advanced cowboy class the first Saturday of the
month, at 1:00pm. This is for those
of you pistoleros that want to hone your skills, develop a little more speed,
and learn some of the tips of the trade. If
you are interested, please call Utah at (321)951-1223. FROM THE PONY
EXPRESS
Safety
is always first and foremost. Please
remember Port Malabar Rifle and Pistol Club is a private range, and we have a
lot of people shooting in areas you can’t always see. Please do not handle your guns unnecessarily at your vehicle
when transferring them to gun carts. Be
mindful of your muzzle direction. Resist
the urge to show off that new fancy rig until you are inside the action area in
a designated safe area. Observe the
10mph speed limit. Please park in
the open lot across from the registration area and NOT
along the bullseye line. Additional
parking is available in the pistol practice area just south of Bay 1.
Parking inside the action area is limited to handicapped vehicles without
trailers and Indian River Regulator Cowboy Council members.
Your support and consideration in these areas will make us better
neighbors with out other shooting disciplines. If
you are a member, of PMRPC please refer to your monthly news letter regarding
the new rules for use of the action area, or see Turkey Creek Red Remember,
at the Port Malabar Rifle and Pistol Club, all juniors shoot free of charge.
This is an excellent way to get more young people involved in our
wonderful sport. If you know someone who might be interested in cowboy action
shooting, please encourage them to attend the cowboy class and come join the
fun! Got
comments? Suggestions? Criticisms? Got an idea for a stage?
WE WANT YOUR INPUT! This is
YOUR shoot and we feel this truly is an interactive sport!
You can write us, call us at (321) 728-7928 or e-mail us at Ccoll28198@aol.com
– even if you want to remain a “Ghost Writer”.
We members of the press know how to protect our sources.
Get involved! GOD BLESS AMERICA
